Every year Travis and I head to Texas to go on my family's annual trip to New Braunfels. This year my sister Sarah and I signed up to do a triathlon together that was held in the suburb my parents live in on the day that we were to leave for New Braunfels. The timing was perfect. The weather was not. It was HOT. I knew it would be, so mentally I was prepared to have to go slower. Thank goodness it was only a sprint (500m swim/14 mile bike/3.5 mile run)! It turned out to be awesome, though. I felt good, and it was amazing having my whole family and some of my sister's friends there to cheer me on. I'm used to only seeing one person there supporting me. I ended up winning my age group! That never, ever happens to me, so excuse my temporary bragging. My sister also won her age group, but she beat me by five minutes!
New Braunfels was fantastic. My other sister (the pregnant one in the pics below) and her husband were there, as were his parents, my grandparents, and the Oliver/Orr crew. I had a lot of fun playing with Luke and Ellie (Kathleen and Mike's kids). While we were there we went to the "Oldest Bakery in Texas" every morning, went on multiple floats every day, went to Schlitterbahn, and hung out with the family. It was so nice and relaxing. I'm already looking forward to next year!!
